Exclusive! Sai Ketan Rao And Shivangi Khedkar On Working Together Again In Their Music Video ‘Ishq Ho Jayega’
Sai Ketan Rao and Shivangi Khedkar who were known for casting their magic in Star Plus’s ‘Mehendi Hai Rachne Wali’ are coming together for their beloved fans in a brand new music video titled ‘Ishq Ho Jayega’ this monsoon. The song is all set to be released later this month i.e. June and it is one of the most anticipated songs especially because this is Sai Ketan Rao debut as a producer. We got in touch with the duo to get to know how was it like shooting together again in completely different characters, their bonding till now and much more.
How was it like playing college students for the music video “Ishq Ho Jayega” and being around college kids?
Shivangi: I think your college time is the most honest time of your life. You make the most genuine friends at that period. I had a great time, every time we shot at a particular area in the college we would get flashbacks of the things we did during our college era, with respect to all that we made sure we incorporated all of those things in the music video. It was fun and nostalgic on so many levels, whether it was reliving our college days or it was our MHRW days together.
Sai Ketan: I felt it is going to be different this time, as in instead of Raghav and Pallavi we are Rohan and Riya where we are in a college atmosphere so our fans will see us in extremely different avatars.
(To Sai Ketan Rao) You have made your debut as a producer for the music video, what was your experience like when it came to donning different hats for the project? Would you want to produce again?
Sai Ketan: The experience was amazing, I got to learn so many things, I came to know my hidden skills while donning the producer hat. My MBA and engineering background came to play here when it came to my management skills. You producing your own stuff at the same time you’re acting in it, it is a big responsibility because it is pretty stressful because you have to put behind the stress when you’re on camera and make sure to portray your emotions which was a big challenge for me but I managed to do it somehow and I would definitely want to take up another project as a producer.
Shivangi: It is so good to see someone having their own production house who wants to showcase their work for the people out there, especially when it is your own friend in it. I am proud of Sai for taking up the producer role. He had told me long time back also that he wanted to produce something of his own so like I knew this was coming someday. I seen him working hard and I kept thinking about how well is he managing things on the set, I would have panicked! I observed him switch roles from being an actor to suddenly being a producer, it was fun seeing him like that.
You both have been working together for a long time now, whether it was in ‘Mehendi Hai Rachnewali’ and for your music videos, what qualities do you like or dislike about each other?
Sai Ketan: I like how Shivangi is punctual, at the same time how brilliant of an actress she is since I’ve worked with her for a year. But I don’t like how she procrastinates, or how she gets irritating lazy (laughs). Luckily it does not stay for long so its good.
Shivangi: One thing I like about Sai is that he is pretty strict in a good way. He makes sure things are not taken lightly and it gets done in a proper manner. Speaking of a thing I dislike, it isn’t really a thing I hate but yes Sai has this habit where he says or does things that may hurt the person in front of him on rare occasions. But yes overall he is a good person in and out.
After this music video, would you guys be seen in another project together that your fans have to look forward for since you have been on demand?
We have been wanting our OG show to have a second season for the viewers, in fact we keep asking the makers about it. Otherwise we would love to explore different platforms like films, web series, etc. and portray ourselves in different character sketches. To be honest soap operas are very limited when it comes to the storylines and characters, we are restricted to explore our characters in a TV show. Whereas in an OTT series, we can try different characters and explore variety of storylines, plus OTT does not have major restrictions like TV series does.
Speaking of ‘Ishq Ho Jayega’ do you both have any expectations from your fans?
We don’t keep any expectations, we believe in giving our 110%, we’ve put our heart and soul into the music video which is again Sai Ketan’s first project as a producer. We want people to watch it and give their honest feedbacks, whether good or bad so that we know where is there scope for improvement in the future. Either way we have that trust in our fans, there is no need to request at all. We have all the confidence only because of our #SaiShi fandom, we know they have our backs no matter what.
