“Best Shoot Schedule Was In Banaras.” – Anmol from UP 65

The other day, Anmol had a great chat with us about his whole new experience of him acting in a very different avatar in the new series, UP 65. He not only shares his different experience in the new avatar but also what his character is actually about. So let’s get into the interesting chat.

How were exactly approached fo this role?

“So the casting director is Taran Bajaj who has casted artists for the movie Fukrey. My brother and I were called up for the audition last year so we both were in the competition for this role. When in the last round they realise that my brother is also auditioning for the same role. It was almost like a showdown between us for this role but ultimately I got chosen for the role. Until then they didn’t know that we did the daily soap shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Parichay. The fun part was there was a huge crowd who used to watch or had seen me in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain, I was mobbed by the same crowd in Banaras.”

He further explains the shoot and schedule in Banaras, “ The schedule was of 10 whole days and the heat was unbearable. At night before the ganga aarti we had to stop the shoot as it becomes a chaos and the voice is so loud, everyone must be aware of the massively great ganga aarti that takes place. It was really like the most fun shoot for me last year in Banaras. This web show was shot for 3 months in which 1 month was in Baroda and 10 days was in Banaras.”

He then shares about his character which is so interesting, “My character’s name is Akhil, every girl is his fan and seeks his attention. He is a stud and has a great fan following.”

What all preparations did you do for this character?

“For me the preparations was when I was told to watch the shows like Hostel Daze and College Romance, these shows didn’t exactly have the quality of my character but my character has the magnetism to attracts girls towards him. I guess there’s one of the character brief where there’s a rumour about him that he has coitus at a very young age. There’s a group of people which consists of 2 who are studious, 2 who are seeking attention of girls and I’m the one who has topped the class and preaches ahead others to do the same like balance all the stuff. My character is somewhat like KGF but doesn’t have the helicopter.”

During the preparations you watched shows, so which one did you prefer the most?

“ I enjoyed Hostel Daze basically as my dialect for the character is needed from North India, there were some north indian kind of characters. I was also asked to watch Kabir Singh kind of characters shows and movies. I had to do those animal flows of lion so everybody was given a specific animal to see how was everyone’s body language goes with them. I was asked to speak with my cousins too because they belong to Noida, I needed that rawness in my character.”

Which was your favourite part of the shoot?

“One of the best and nicest for me was to shoot in the lanes of Banaras where the group is shown walking through the lanes and talk about the love life. There was so much background chaos which was all natural, there was a husband and wife argument was going on so it was all natural and we didn’t actually create a fake scenario in the background. It was all so natural that the husband from the pair resumed the argument with one of our production guys. Once there was a dog who picked one shoe from the pair and threw it in the Ganga river, and the shoe belonged to one of our cast people, that was also used naturally and the trailer also consists of the last part where the people actually greet eachother in such abusive language.”

How much do you relate to your character, Akhil?

“Honestly, it was very different from what I am. Firstly, he is a chain smoker, a wannabe. My challenge was actually to perform it naturally and not be pretentious. The workshop was also one of them had where I had to just abuse the entire time and the director also told me, I’m not your director, treat me one of y’all and abuse away. I’m not like that, I’m the shy one and who doesn’t actually does such stuff.”

What consequences did you face because of your dialect in your house?

“ After this when I return home, so when I started a conversation with my family, during that there’s something that came out of my mouth which I realised later why is this happening. My dad then said now that you’re home you need to detox a bit now. Now also when the group of mine of UP 65, it happens with all of us we converse in the same dialect, it was a challenge for all of us. The first scene of mine is only shown where I’m giving a lecture to all of my friends on sex.”

What response did you receive on social media for this show?

“ So I have received a lot fo good response. Everyone said that the teaser is very good, the vibe of the show is really good, too much excitement. I don’t have a romantic angle but I’m like sadguru who is making people fall in love with eachother. Pretty good response has been received on the teaser. The teaser hs already received 1 Million views on YouTube. I genuinely am saying that there are really good responses in the comments. It is really great!”
