In the name of Rajan Shahi, Sonia Kashyap gets scammed

Sonia Kashyap a known actress who has worked for a pretty good amount of time. She is from a small district in Assam. She has been seen in Kismat Connection that aired on Sahara One. Well recently she was scammed by a person who claimed to be from Directors Kut Production and another person who claimed to be Rajan Shahi the famous producer himself. Sonia being in need of some work without even having second thoughts connected with him and went on doing the way he asked to and whatever he conditioned to.

Starting up with she describes to us on call step by step, she explained,”One evening a friend of mine from the industry shares a contact information with me of a guy or a production house who are running auditions for Anupamaa, yet another famous name in the Television shows. She shared thinking this might help me, I messaged them so there was a reply by a person named Piyush Sharma as a casting director. I didn’t doubt at all at first then we had a chat for the audition of the role needed in Anupamaa, he said that role is already fixed, we have selected someone. So I asked for some other work so he suggested me a requirement is needed in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain, another famous name associated with DKP and Rajan Shahi. I shared my name information and number. He suggested me to talk directly to Rajan Shahi sir by giving his contact information. The number seemed very much genuine because it was set up as a business profile with proper details on WhatsApp.”

To be clear she had a proper chat with Piyush Sharma who claimed to be the casting director on Facebook Messenger.

Later she explains,”On the same night I sent same details to him as well and in the morning i greeted him with Good Morning. I filmed the audition tape for him and sent it from my friend’s house as I was shifting so my place was an entire chaos at that time. He further asked me to share details of my parents and family for confirmation so I shared which seemed genuine too. The process got on hold when he asked about CINTAA card, I said no but I can apply if it really needed. Understanding the whole process, I thought I must go ahead with this because then they said that this show seems difficult for you because CINTAA is needed, so I asked for his help so he taunted me saying that you have worked so much, you must be aware of this. He introduced me to yet another woman who will help me with the procedure of finalising CINTAA for me. If she is successful in doing this, then I can go ahead with your profile for the role as it is the second lead.”

“Then the lady said no it can’t happen because this is a long procedure call me in a while I’ll do something because she heard Rajan Shahi’s name. After calling me back she told me I’ll need to pay a fee of 2 years in a different account which will be transferred to our boss’ account directly. They were all talking very sweetly calling me beta which seemed pretty much genuine and not at all like fraud. They asked me for more money for the confirmation of 4 years so in total they took Rs. 40,000 from me in the name of CINTAA and I transferred the money in a hurry because in my head I didn’t wanted to miss the role.” She breaks down and further shares, ” they call me back saying that we need more money so you will need to pay Rs. 10,000 more and it seemed genuine and real because I received a mail in the name of CINTAA so I transferred the extra money also to the person claiming to be Rajan Shahi and shared the confirmation of transfer on WhatsApp.”

“Then Anita calls me again and says that we need your Star Plus number so I asked the person who claimed to be Rajan Shahi he said politely that I can’t do this because my name is on stake and it will be exposed in media so I told him no nothing as such will happen I assure you. Indirectly after sorting all this, she asks me for more Rs. 24,000 and here I got all the more scared as I wasn’t keeping well too. My younger sister also got chills and told me this doesn’t look good. I didn’t even listen to her and I told Anita I have no money left. She replied to me saying then this can’t happen you can’t get this show. I got scared of losing so confirmed to her saying that she will receive money by 7 PM. This all took a turn when I needed to talk to the very first person the middle man who was Piyush on Facebook Messenger. I tried calling him over there since I couldn’t get his contact number and I sent him a message saying I will go to the police station and file a complaint against you. He abused me there and sent me abusive messages an blocked me.” My sister had her number on her cell phone and saved it.”

“I went to the police station, the head Mr. Tambe will meet us the next day so that also wasn’t helpful as such. I went to another sir but no one helped. I sat from 9:30PM, the sir came around 2 AM and I pleaded saying I need to file an FIR so they refused saying you must write a letter and applied a stamp on it and gave it to me. They told me they will call me after 2 days. Until here I didn’t realise that I was scammed.”

“The scammers are not ye held responsible or caught or traced as such. I have no idea what is going on. It is my work to call such people and work with them and hunt for work. They will prefer giving work to those women and girls who are known to them not to people like us.”

“My friend who recommended the number to me consoled and can’t do anything as such all my friends are there with me helping me get my money back but there is no update as such.”

“All I have to say is that it is our work to audition it is our work that is what we do. But I just hope there are some other girls along with me or like me who are scammed just like me. We come here in an unknown city rent a home for a living, hunt for work. I didn’t doubt a bit at all that I was being scammed. My father always calls me everyday and asks me but I give him false hope that there will be some work some day, it will happen soon. I just hope no one like me get scammed ever again. People who get scammed don’t raise voice because of shame but they shouldn’t feel like this but raise voice to alert others. They shouldn’t be doing a mistake like me. Do not fall prey to such fake unknowns who claim to be such established personalities.”

We hope Sonia Kashyap gets her money back and we get to see her in a good show soon. Share your thoughts below!
