“…And it might give other transgender a chance to be a part in future.” – Neerja Punia

Recently, we got in touch with Neerja Punia. She is one of the most unique contestant this time in the show Roadies karm ya kaand.

How would you describe your roadies journey?

The journey was quite interesting and very masaledaar as well. There were many ups and down. There was extreme happiness, extreme sadness. Also what i have seen from childhood was able to feel now. Childhood dream came true and the bucket list was fulfilled. The show even boosted my confidence and i have learned a lot from the show.

What was the reason behind choosing it?

The reason behind choosing this is I have watched roadies since childhood with my mom and brother. It was my mom’s dream either me or my brother should experience this journey. When i used to share with my brother and friends they used to laugh at me due to physical appereance and the strength it required to play the game. Also, there were very few queer perosnalities in the show. So I had to prove myself that I am so strong physically and mentally as well. And had to question their laugh. Also, i could not relate my self to the previous contestants. And it might give other transgender a chance to be a part in future.

Whom were you closest in the journey?

Roadies is such a platform where youth is quite connected. So my main motto was to connect with the audience and do more awarness programme. Also I think i have achieved what i wanted to from this show. Many people have appreciated me and texted me on social media.

Who was your favourite contestant and whom did you not like at all from all the contestants?

My favourite contestant according to the game is Risabh because he is a great team leader and he is a package who acts acvording to the situation in the game. I would want that Risabh should go ahead and win the game. Abhiru is a softy he is masculine and he have shown empathy in the game so I will choose them.

When it comes to disliking contestant, I did not like Shivedh. Because from day one he have used such terms which has made me uncomfortable. He was bothering me from day one but i did not have any hate against him. He even passed some comments which were very transphobic and homophobic. Also the comments were very mean. So yes I hate him for very obvious reasons.

After roadies what are your plans, can we sew you in any other reality show?

Yes, I am very excited for upcoming opportunities in life. I have learnt a lot about myself. I am very rebel in life with some things and has very strong opinions. I would like to do keep my opinions more. Further i am looking for India’s Next Top Model as I work as model. I don’t know if it comes this year but whenever it comes I would like to do the show. Also Splitsvilla is great opportunity and my love life was fucked up. If I get someone through the show then it would be great. Also we have been portrayed differently so it would be great if something like this happens. Also bigg boss is great platform as there are alot of cameras and you can react instantly while on roadies you have to wait for the camera to react.

What are your upcoming projects?

Recently I have done a show. There is other show where i will be walking as queer model and roadies has given me the opportunity to look beyond. Also would like to thank roadies for giving me an opportunity and giving us all that we deserve. With this i hope everything gets better be it with family, friends or carrer wise as well.
